Viktor Cepeda fell in love with the guitar at age 13. Cepedas interest in music first stemmed from listening to Pop and Punk, though as he matured he slowly began to get more involved with the acoustic guitar. Much of his music is inspired by the likes of John Mayer and Jack Johnson. Cepeda was intrigued by the challenge of Mayers play style and Johnsons rhythm. As Cepeda skills advanced he began to learn the playing styles of other artists that inspired him such as James Blake, Justin King, Jason Mraz, Maroon 5, Kyle Riabko, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, and Gavin Degraw.
After a while Cepeda wanted to pick up his electric guitar again and started listening to iconic artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughn, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Freddie King, Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton, and Jimi Hendrix. At this point his whole perception of music had changed. He fell into the blues, and started finding his soul. During his high school years Cepeda began to write songs and get his inspiration from relationships, friends, and life.
“If the lyrics weren’t by me, I wouldn’t feel the song. I wouldn’t be able to express it the best way I can, unless it’s from the heart.”
Viktor graduated from the LA Music Academy in 2009, and is now producing music in Austin, TX.
“Music is my passion; from day one I knew I was going to have music in my life. When you start playing and writing, you start opening up, you start finding yourself, and who you can become.”
